Hello! My name is Sara Seitz. I am a professional freelance editor and writer.

In 2019, I started my own content creation and editing business called Pen&Post. While I love working with small businesses and writing content for the web, my real passion has always been crafting and consuming fiction.

P&P Editing combines my education, talents, and passions into one wonderful venture that allows me to help other aspiring fiction writers.

My Background

I have 20 years of experience writing novels, a minor in English from Colorado State University, and a passion for helping aspiring writers enhance and polish their manuscripts to achieve their publishing dreams, whatever they may be.

My education and editing experience provide me with the tools to correct work on a line level. But it’s my deep knowledge of story structure, character development, and the publishing industry that I believe truly sets me apart as an editor. I’ve gained this knowledge throughout two decades of crafting my own stories and helping other writers plan, write, and polish their manuscripts. I am constantly learning and expanding my knowledge base to offer the most comprehensive editing experience possible.

I specialize in commercial and upmarket novel-length fiction. Regarding editing, I offer developmental, line, copy, and proofreading edits. I also specialize in crafting query letters, polishing submission packets, and helping authors find appropriate comp titles for their work.

I am a highly communicative editor and strive to meet every client’s needs. My goal is always to elevate and enhance your personal voice, never to dilute it with unnecessary edits or for the sake of enforcing arbitrary grammatical and mechanical rules.

I also invite you to browse my services page and read testimonials from my past clients to see if I might be a good fit for your project.

My Editing Style

Long before I started editing professionally, I was crafting my own fiction projects. Because of this, I know how terrifying it can be to put your work out into the world (whether you’re submitting it to an editor or hitting that publish button on KDP). I also know that it’s difficult not to take critiques personally. After all, the stories we tell come from our souls and they remain ever-connected to us.

The last thing you want is for someone to take the story you have worked so hard on and turn it into something it’s not. My goal when editing—whether working on a line or big-picture level—is to enhance your voice and intent, not corrupt it.

I am not the kind of editor who sticks stringently to a style guide or stuffy mechanical rules. I know all of these rules, but I also know that breaking them can be more impactful in some situations.

More than anything, I am a collaborative editor. I provide all my edits using track changes in Word or suggesting mode in Google Docs. This way, you can accept or reject any edit I recommend. Of course, if you have questions, I am always available to talk more in-depth about the changes I’ve recommended.
