Line and copy editing are two editing services that focus on your story at a sentence and paragraph level. While these two services deal with different aspects of line-level writing, there is some overlap, which means there are benefits to having a single editor complete both edits in quick succession.
What Does This Service Include?
- Line and Copy Edits of Your Submission. This edit is done in two stages. The first looks at your content on a line level to ensure every word is doing what it should to convey your intent, tone, and voice. The second pass focuses on writing mechanics such as spelling and grammar to ensure the piece is polished and ready for readers. You will receive your submission back after it has been line edited. Once you go through it and accept or decline each edit, you will send it back to me so I can complete the copy edit.
Since this is charged on a per-word basis, you’re welcome to submit as many or as few pages from your story as you would like.
Who Is This Service For?
This service is perfect for authors who are confident their story is ready on a plot and scene level but want help perfecting their prose and making sure the writing is technically correct.
This service includes the same editing I provide for my line edit and copy edit services, but comes at a discount since they are bundled together. While this edit still requires two separate passes for each type of editing, bundling the two services typically provides faster results simply because we can create a single timeline to get them both done.
How Much Does It Cost?
This service starts at $0.030 per word.
Most manuscripts qualify for this starting rate, however, stories with extensive issues may require a higher fee. This fee will be discussed and agreed upon before work begins.
The fee includes in-doc edits using track changes (or suggestions in Google Docs) as well as comments and suggestions during the line editing portion.
